Strategic MoU Signed Between BUFT and Academy of Garments Technology Bangladesh

BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT) has entered into a three-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Academy of Garments Technology Bangladesh (GarmentTechBD) to strengthen collaboration between academia and industry. The agreement was signed on 10 July 2025, marking a milestone in fostering innovation, research, and talent development for Bangladesh’s apparel sector.

Through this partnership, both institutions will jointly organize BD Case Competitions, certified training programs, workshops, internships, and international events to better prepare students for real-world challenges. BUFT students will also gain exclusive free access to GarmentTechBD’s memberships, training sessions, and publishing opportunities, creating a unique bridge between classroom learning and industry practices.

The signing ceremony brought together distinguished leaders from both organizations. On behalf of BUFT, Mr. Faruque Hassan, Chairman, Board of Trustees, signed the agreement along with Prof. Dr. Engr. Ayub Nabi Khan, Acting Vice Chancellor; Prof. Dr. Alamgir Hossain, Treasurer; and Prof. Dr. Engr. Mohammed Rubaiyat Chowdhury, Dean of the Faculty of Apparel Studies. Representing GarmentTechBD were Dr. Henry Soo, Strategic Partner; Mr. Abdus Salam, Adviser; and Mr. Md. Panna Rahman, Project Leader.

This MoU reflects a shared commitment to bridging the gap between academic knowledge and industry needs, empowering the next generation of garment professionals, and supporting Bangladesh’s position as a global leader in apparel manufacturing.
