MoU Signing Ceremony between University of Chittagong and Academy of Garments Technology Bangladesh (GarmentTechBD)

The University of Chittagong and the Academy of Garments Technology Bangladesh (GarmentTechBD) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen education, training, and research in the apparel and textile industry.

The ceremony took place at Le Méridien Dhaka, where leaders from academia and industry attended. Notably, Professor Dr. Muhammad Yeahia Akhter, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Chittagong, joined the event along with Dr. Mohammad Saiful, Registrar, and Mr. Masum, Assistant Registrar. Several faculty members participated as well, highlighting the university’s commitment to industry–academia collaboration.

From GarmentTechBD, Dr. Henry Soo and Project Leader Md. Panna Rahman shared their vision for industry-focused education and global partnerships. Additionally, they emphasized practical training and skill development for students.

This MoU will create opportunities for joint training programs, capacity-building initiatives, skill development workshops, research collaborations, and knowledge exchange. Consequently, both institutions aim to prepare skilled professionals who meet the demands of the global apparel sector.
